The history of Zirisi

The name is pronounced zih-ree-see and it is something I made up and liked the sound of! It was initially the name of a character I created on a game and I liked the sound of it so much I made it my own.

The first blog post I made on Zirisi was on 7th April 2013. I had already been crocheting around a year by then and had opened my Etsy shop a few months before that. I love crafting in general and I actually tried to take up knitting but found I was unable to grasp it. So I decided to try crochet and picked it up as if I had been doing it for years already. After that I was hooked (see what I did there?). I spent a lot of time making up some single crochet squares and I ended up with approx 200 before I braved new patterns. Here are a few of my early makes:

I had very little space to work with back then, a tiny corner of a room with a computer desk and a full bookcase. Not much storage space either! I have a lot more room now and have filled a lot of space with crafting materials!

I learned a lot over the 7 years that have passed by, I have also taken up sewing as of last year (November(ish) 2019) and I really enjoy it! Here are some of my newer makes:

The first is a hand sewn pocket tissue holder and the second is a filet crochet infinity scarf. I have also taken up loom knitting and have been known to make scarves for family members this way.

As you can see, the history of Zirisi is short and sweet! But there's a lot more to come yet. I have the crafting bug and that's not going away any time soon. I hope you enjoyed this history and catch-up. Leave a comment if you have ideas for what else you'd like to see, I focus on accessories and fun items not clothing. Or just if you want to say hi!
